Utility Man Turton Is Big Help

17 February 2015

Boss praise for Turton as he wins his place back in a different position

Ollie Turton’s versatility to play in defence and in midfield has made him a crucial part of the Crewe Alexandra squad. The Altrincham-based Turton may have lost his midfield place entering the New Year due to the emergence of fellow Academy graduate James Jones, but the utility man soon slipped into the right-wing back spot.

Turton was a right-back going through the club’s renowned Academy and has impressed in that position, so much so that he was named Man-of-the-Match against Yeovil last Tuesday evening.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Ollie is a really versatile player and he is comfortable in defence or in midfield. He is reliable and he knows the job we need him to do.

“He gets on with things. He doesn’t moan or groan and gets on with it. He has a really god attitude and gives everything he has in training, every day.

The boss added: “Having that versatility to play different positions is important to us. He can slot in at right wing back. He knows the role and he has played well in there.”
