Ray On Garratt Loss

24 February 2015

George Ray says everyone was disappointed to lose the Alex number one through injury

George Ray has told the club’s official web-site of his own disappointment in seeing the Crewe number one Ben Garratt suffer a fractured leg, as our club enters the business end of the season.

The former Wales Under-21 defender says the news of Garratt missing the remainder of the season it a blow to the defensive unit because the young goalkeeper had been one of our most consistent performers this season.

Garratt has fractured his tibia and has been ruled out for at least 6-8 weeks and his misfortune will open the door for the recently signed Paul Rachubka.

Ray told crewealex.net: “Ben has been unbelievable for us and to lose him is a blow for him personally and for us.

“In my eyes he has been one of our most consistent performers this season and certainly one of our Player-of-the-season. He has been excellent for us and did a great job in games to keep us in them.

He added: “We have Paul here now and he is an experienced goalkeeper. We will take him under our wing and I’m sure we will all have a good understanding before too long.

“We will get him on board and he will do the job for us.”
