Not Concerning Ourselves With Coco Situation

5 August 2015

Boss stresses that he is only interested in focussing on the new season.

Steve Davis has told crewealex.net that he is not concerning himself with the contract situation regarding Ryan Colclough as he prepares for the start of the new season. Colclough went out of contract at Crewe Alexandra at the end of July, but the club reserve the right to compensation due to his age.

The talented winger is currently on trial with Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers with a view to a possible fee being agreed between the two clubs, but Davis is solely focussing on the visit of Port Vale this weekend. He would still like the Stoke-on-Trent forward to sign a new deal at Crewe and continue his development at the Football Club.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I received a phone call from Wolves out of courtesy to say that Ryan was training with them and that is fine. They want to have a look at him and when they make a decision I’m sure they will be in touch again.

“I don’t know what it happening with him but we won’t let ourselves be affected with it. We are planning without him and have been for much of the pre-season. When we knew that he wasn’t committing his future to us then we didn’t include him.

“I am in the dark as much as you, the fans, when it comes to knowing where his future is but we are not overly concerning ourselves with that. We are focussing on our own group and the start of the season.

“The only thing we are focussed on is having a better season for Crewe Alexandra and we are getting on with that.”
