Boss Encouraged By Attacking Play

26 August 2015

Steve pleased with chances created over last three games

Steve Davis says he has seen some really encouraging signs when it comes to his team’s attacking play. The Alex boss has been delighted with the return of five goals in our last two games but some avoidable goals has resulted in us only collecting a point for our efforts.

The Alex boss was left smarting after Crewe Alexandra twice allowed the lead to slip at home to Bury on Saturday. Crewe ended up going 3-2 behind and needed a superb individualistic goal from the in-form Brad Inman to make sure we salvaged a point from a game that we could have possibly won.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It is still early days into the season and there have been some encouraging things to see, especially in our attacking play. We are creating chances and have scored five goals in our last two games. To only have a point to show for that is disappointing and that is due to some of the poor goals we have conceded.

“I’ve watched the Bury game back a few times and we have gone through with the players. When it is shown to them and explained to them what they should have done better then there is no hiding place when it is projected onto the big screen.

“Some of our attacking clips were very good. We looked a threat and we carved them open at times. The movement was good and there were some really clever runs from the front players.

He added: “The finishing was better but it can also be better. We have scored some really good goals in the last couple of games and we have to make sure that continues. It is still early days and the players are finding their feet but I’ve been pleased with the level of performance in an attacking sense and we just have to be more consistent throughout the team and tighten up.”
