Davis: "We Want To Do It Ourselves"

29 April 2015

Steve Davis says focus remains on securing three points in final game.

Steve Davis says his players are determined to secure their League One status by their own methods this weekend against Bradford City. With Colchester United being held to a draw at home to Swindon last night, the Railwaymen need a point to guarantee safety because fellow strugglers Coventry and Crawley have to face each other on the final day.

The Alex boss says the dressing room is only focussed on getting the job done and winning the final game of the season.

Ahead of Sunday’s game, Steve said: “We are pleased that the result at Coventry has given us that cushion of two points going into the final game of the season. We are out of the bottom four and it is up to us.

“We want to be positive again this weekend and look to win the game. We want to do it for us and the fans and we want to do it by ourselves.

“You could see how important the goals were at Coventry. They came at the right time for us. You could see the difference getting that second goal made. We were in control of the game and although they had a lot of possession, it was mainly in front of us and we kept them at bay.

The boss added: “We need to be as resilient as that on Sunday against another tough opponent in Bradford.”
