Steve Davis says players looking forward to Coventry challenge

Steve Davis believes that a bumper crowd at the Ricoh Arena could inspire his players to one of their best performances of the season. Coventry are expecting one of their largest home attendances of the season after they chose to reduce ticket prices.

Crewe travel to the Sky Blues needing points to remain above the relegation drop zone. Meanwhile Tony Mowbury’s side still need a point to safeguard their own status.

Ahead of this weekend’s fixture, Steve told us: “Tony (Mowbray) has gone into Coventry and implemented his own ideas on the team. They have had a few decent results since he came in and I’m sure they have enough to stay up. They are virtually there and I would certainly swap their points tally for ours.

“We want to go there and win and hopefully that will move us away from the bottom four area. They also need a point to be sure so that only adds some extra spice to the occasion. I should be a decent game of football in a good atmosphere.

He added: “Having a good crowd inside their impressive stadium is good from our point of view. Playing in front of a big crowd, in a loud atmosphere is what you want as players. It only adds to the expectation and hopefully it will inspire our lads as it has done at Sheffield United recently.”
