Zubar's Experience Could Help Us

8 September 2014

Bournemouth defender could help us while we wait for Harry Davis to return to fitness

Steve Davis believes that the experience of Stephane Zubar could help out his young squad. The 27-year-old Guadelope International is looking for regular football after being allowed out on loan by his parent club Bournemouth.

Zubar is currently on a short trial with the club, with a view to us taking him on loan. Davis is looking for cover and competition at centre-half with Harry Davis still a few weeks off a return to action.

Zubar has been granted permission to play in tonight’s Under-21 fixture against Colchester United as one of our over-aged players. The match is at the Alexandra Stadium and Davis has promised to make a quick decision on the defender’s immediate future.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We have taken Stephane on a short term trial with a view to us taking him on loan. I wanted to have a look at him at first and I think that was the right thing to do.

“I think his experience could help us in that department. He could fill the void with Harry (Davis) still out. Harry has been out longer than anticipated and we could do with some cover and competition there.

“We nearly lost George (Ray) with his head injury and that would have left us wide open. We would have been short and had to play Jon (Guthrie) there against Rochdale. “
