Steve Davis gives us his post match reaction after Notts County defeat
Steve Davis gave us his post-match reaction from Gresty Road following a second successive home defeat. Shaun Derry’s Notts County side ran out 3-0 winners to what was a similar type of game to Saturday when Colchester were the visitors to Gresty Road.
Steve Davis: “It’s like Déjà vu again and I can only say the same things again that I said on Saturday, the same things have happened again.
“We’ve been fine in the game, we’ve battled away then suddenly there’s a goal from nothing. The lad gets across the front of one of the defenders, miss-kicks it then it rolls into the corner.
“It was a bad time to concede right on half-time then we spoke about the importance of the first 15 minutes of the second half and I’ve just had a right go at the defence for what they did on that set play – I don’t know what they were doing there or what’s going through their heads. Then all of sudden it was 2-0.
“There was nothing up front to suggest we were ever going to get back into the game. Second half there was no fight and that’s the disappointing thing.
“I’m getting a bit of criticism at the moment, which I expect, and I have to fight through it. I’ve had messages of support and I’ll keep going until somebody says otherwise.
He added: “The team needs some re-building. I need to get some out and get some in, and I’m prepared to do that if it’s what it takes. If the players aren’t up to it and won’t run about then I’ll change it.”
