Steve Davis has always been an admirer of the Colchester striker's movement
Steve Davis has always been a keen admirer of Colchester United’s striker Freddie Sears and says that the former West Ham player is a clever type of forward who occupies any defence at this level. Despite missing some matches mid-season due to injury, Sears, 24, hit 12 goals in all competitions and has four goals from his 10 appearances so far this season.
Ahead of our weekend clash with the U’s, the Alex boss said: “I have always liked Freddie Sears as a player. He has a decent goalscoring record and he is a clever player, who makes good runs.
“He has always had that movement and that ability to get in behind you, so that makes him dangerous. He missed a period of last season through injury but still managed to score double figures. He has been good this season. He is back playing and performing well for them.
“He will be a threat tomorrow and they have some good young players at the club, but so have we.”
