Steve Davis says Coventry win will only enchance confidence

Steve Davis is hoping that the club’s recent 2-1 win over Coventry City will only increase the confidence in the Crewe camp. The Alex boss was delighted with his side’s style and resilience in achieving their second win of the season and he is confident that his players will take that into Saturday’s trip to Walsall.

Speaking to the club’s official web-site, the boss said: “I think any good result and performance lifts spirits. The team spirit here has actually been very good and the players are working very hard after we made a poor start to the season.

“The Coventry game has given us a lift and has rebuilt some confidence. It has given them confidence in the fact that if they produce a level of performance then they achieve a result.

“They did exactly that against Coventry. They are no mugs Coventry and a good side. Watching it back on the DVD, Coventry played some good football and their movement was good. We contained them well and deserved our win.

He added:
“Now we have to take that into the Walsall game. Coventry was a start but now we will work hard in preparation for Walsall.”
