Everyone Remaining Positive

Boss says there is no point feeling sorry for ourselves

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that everyone continues to be positive around the club despite our poor start to the season.

The Alex are rooted at the bottom of the League One table with four points and although the Crewe Alexandra boss admitted that the dressing room was low following a 3-0 defeat to Notts County, he says that you have to quickly move on and go again.

Davis and his coaching staff have been working hard this week on the defensive side of things and being hit on the counter-attack in quick succession.

The Alex have very much been in the games against Colchester and Notts County, up until the first goal has gone in against us and Davis wants to create a better platform from which to build on in games.

Ahead of this weekend’s trip to Bradford, Steve Davis told us: “We have been analysing our goals against and stopping those counter-attacking goals going against us. We have worked hard to trying to find a way to stop those mad periods in the games where we conceded goals.

“We have been in the last two games and I don’t think 3-0 reflected the overall way we played. It is not as though we are creating a glut of chances but we are still creating enough chances and playing well enough in games to get something from them.

“The goals haven’t come in the last two games from a sustained period of pressure from the opposition. In fact we have more often than not been in possession, given it away and been hit on the break.

“We are looking to stop that happening and getting that first clean sheet in the league would certainly help give us a better platform.

“If we can keep things tight then that is sure to give us a much better chance. The lads were down after Tuesday night and it hasn’t been easy but everyone here is sticking together and remaining positive.

“There is still time to turn the season around and we will continue to do our best.”
