Steve Davis looks forward to challenge of winning at Crawley again

Steve Davis says he is looking forward to testing himself up against Crawley’s vastly experienced manager John Gregory again this weekend. Crewe won 2-1 at the Broadfield Stadium last season and Davis is going all out to win again after suffering that set-back against Sheffield United last time out at the Alexandra Stadium.

Crewe won their first away game of the season at Walsall recently and the Alex boss says his team have taken great confidence from their last four performances. Crewe have picked up 9 points from 12 to drag themselves back in contention of getting out of the bottom four sooner rather than later.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “The players are looking forward to it. It is another chance to put on another good performance and pick up some points. We know it is never easy to go away from home in this league and going to Crawley is always tough.

“They have a very experienced manager in John (Gregory). He has managed at the highest level and has come back into the game at Crawley after having a bit of time out of the game. He is taking full advantage of that opportunity and is building his own team there.

“They have changed around a lot of personnel in regards to players and John has been quick to stamp his authority on the squad. They have some good players there and they play to their strengths.

“They will be very organised and ready for us and we will have to be the same. It is how we perform on the day because there have been a lot of clubs at this level struggling to find that real consistency. Bristol City have been the exception so far.

He added: “We may have to tweak one or two things but we have been good form and the real positives have been the performances. We certainly gave our all against Sheffield United last week and could have got something out of that, so we go to Crawley in a positive mood.”
