Boss decides against signing the former Swansea defender for now...

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has elected not to offer the former Swansea City and Millwall defender Federico Bessone a contract after the Argentine full-back recently spent a four-day trial with the club. Bessone, 30, is available as a free transfer after he was released by Millwall in the summer.

Steve Davis has not ruled out inviting the left-back back to the club in January but much will depend on what happens to the on-loan Greg Leigh and our own Jon Guthrie, as they battle it out for that position.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We decided against offering Federico anything at the moment but that could change in January. Much would depend on what happens with Manchester City and Greg Leigh.

“We will keep in touch with him and it could be an option further down the line. We wanted to have a look at him and he did well. He is a good player and we expected that because he has played at the top level in this country.”
