Up For League One Challenge

Steve Davis on the challenge facign his team in League One again

on the final day of the season, the Alex boss declared that ‘League One is where we want to be.’ Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he is looking forward to another challenging season in League One. Crewe Alexandra managed to survive in League One following a strong finish to the campaign and on the pitch after the 2-1 win over Preston North End

Steve told crewealex.net: “League One is where we want to be. It is a great league and there are more good clubs coming up and have come down into the division.

“Rochdale, Scunthorpe and Chesterfield are good clubs and will give it a real go. They are decent spenders and then we have three more good clubs coming down from the Championship. We know about Yeovil and the job that Gary Johnson did there in getting them promoted.

“It will of course be nice for me to go back to Barnsley after I enjoyed fantastic seven years there. I will look forward to that.

“I am sure Doncaster will feel a bit hard done by after going down on the final day of the season. They will be reeling from that but they are well supported and I’m sure they will be ready to bounce back next season.

“It is not easy though as Bristol City and Sheffield United found at the beginning of last season. The struggled to adjust but improved and Sheffield United went on a fantastic run. That shows how difficult this league can be.

“We want to do as well as we can. We don’t lack ambition at this club. I have never seen it with my players and staff that is for sure.”
