Steve: "Not Taught On FA Courses"

23 May 2014

Steve says he is a better manager due to experience of alst season

Steve Davis has admitted that he probably gained more experience during last season’s testing campaign than he did previously during his successful times with Nantwich Town and Crewe Alexandra.

Davis followed up two Wembley appearances in successive seasons here at Crewe with a real nail-biting fight against relegation. Crewe, who had struggled close to or in the bottom four all season long, hit form at the right time to make sure we were clear of the drop zone on the final day.

Steve believes that the experience he, his staff and his young group attained from last season struggles will only put them in good stead going forward.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I hope we can have a lot happier season this time around. We had to deal with a lot of adversity on-and-off the pitch. The things I had to experience, you don’t learn on an FA coaching course.

“Sometimes it was very difficult and I’m sure all the players and staff learn a lot. I will take the negatives from the year and use that to help us going forward. I am a better equipped manager now after going through what we had to.

The Alex manager added: “It will improve me as a manager and the young players will have learnt a great deal about themselves as well. We will examine everything and see how we can improve the things we do here.”
