Adam Dugdale praises fans contribution after vital win over Preston
Goal hero Adam Dugdale was delighted that Crewe Alexandra did the business themselves under real pressure this afternoon. Crewe needed to beat Preston North End to guarantee our League One status and thanks to Dugdale’s header in the 10th minute and Mathias Pogba’s tap in after Uche Ikpeazu’s blistering run to the by-line made it job done.
Following our 2-1 win Dugdale told crewealex.net: “It was a superb performance from the lads today because we wanted to make sure we did our job and win the game. We had worked so hard to get back into it and to get ourselves into this position so we were determined not to throw it away on the final day.
“We wanted to be in control of our own destiny and we have put in a fantastic performance to do it. Everyone played their part. The eleven who started the subs who came on, the staff, the fans, everyone and it is a great achievement considering where we were at Christmas.
“It was a like a cup final today and that is the way we treated it. It had a cup final feeling with the fans like they were today and they were magnificent for us. They really got behind us and we could do with more numbers here to make more days like this. It was a fantastic day and we are delighted for everyone that we will be a League One club again next season.”
