As Normal As Possible

Boss just wants his players to leave nothing on the pitch.

Steve Davis has told crewealex.net that he will be trying to keep this Saturday’s clash with Preston North End as normal as possible. Of course, Crewe can safeguard their League One status with a home win but the Alex boss has approached the encounter the same as any other this week.

Ahead of the crucial home meeting with Preston, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We know that it is a big game and what is riding on it but we have kept things as normal as usual for the players.

“Of course, you don’t want to pick up any knocks or injuries so close to match day and we virtually have everyone available. We are confident of getting the result we need and have worked on some different scenarios that may occur in the game.

“The players have trained well and have worked on set-plays. I just want the players to enjoy it, embrace it and learn from the experience. If they give me their all that is all you can ask for as a manager and I trust these players to put in a performance that will be good enough.

He added: “I’ve picked the team but we have to decide on the substitutes and who we may need. It might be that they are needed for this one-off game and we have to select six from 11 so there are going to be some disappointing players who will have to be left out. “
