Boss hoping mid-week break will improve his options

. Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis is hoping that some of his injury concerns will clear up before the weekend trip to Peterborough United. Wide man Bradden Inman was the latest Alex player to suffer an injury when he was forced off with a hip injury against Swindon on Saturday. Inman had to be replaced by new loan signing Cameron Park just before the half an hour mark

Crewe went into Saturday’s game against play-off chasing Swindon with eight first team players missing for various injuries but boss Steve Davis is hoping that he could have three or four back for the weekend.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It will benefit us to have a free week because we do have a lot out. It hasn’t really happened during the two and half years I have been here to have so many players out all at once.

“We had eight for the weekend and then lost Bradden Inman. Oliver Turton was fit enough to be on the bench again and we should have another two or three back as well which will improve us.

The boss added: “Having so many out at the same time has left us a bit short but it has given other players a chance. They are all players who would possibly be in and around the team so having this week with no mid-week fixture will give us time to recover and prepare.”
