Harry: “It’s a point gained”

17 March 2014

Davis pleased to rescue point after abject Latics showing

Defender Harry Davis admitted that Crewe Alexandra were happy to snatch a late draw at home to Oldham despite pinpointing the Latics clash for a much needed three points.

The Alex failed to get out of second gear for much of the afternoon until Davis’ header in added on time cancelled out Gary Harkins’ opener for Oldham just after the break.

Despite failing to take maximum points, Harry suggested that positive of coming from behind to steal a point could have a positive effect of the squad.

“In the end it’s a point gained, the performance wasn’t good enough today,” said Harry.

“When we came into the game this was a must win and we didn’t deliver. We weren’t good enough all over the pitch, so looking back over the game it’s definitely a point gained.

“We put pressure on ourselves, we need to drive people to deliver. We weren’t good enough, we know that, we spoke about it after and said that we need to play better if we’re going to get out of trouble.

“Three points would’ve been great for us. We would’ve put them below us and moved up a couple of places but we’ve certainly got to do better.

“It’s a positive that we can take that we’ve come from behind against Oldham and Swindon because we weren’t doing it at the start of the season and now we keep going and staying in games even when we go behind.

“It’s just a case of all looking at ourselves and coming back to training to all have a go and look towards Gillingham and hope that we all play better.”
