Boss On Lee's Latics

14 March 2014

Steve Davis on Lee Johnson's Oldham Athletic side

Steve Davis is looking forward to meeting up again with Lee Johnson. Although the stakes are high with both teams competing for three valuable points in the battle to escape the drop, Davis says he will look forward to sharing a drink with Lee after the outcome of tomorrow’s game at Gresty Road.

Lee trained with Crewe in the winter of 2012 prior to him being named as Oldham’s next manager following the dismissal of Paul Dickov. Johnson guided the Latics to safety in difficult circumstances and he has given them a fighting chance again this season.

Ahead of tomorrow’s clash, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Lee will be thinking exactly the same as I am. He will be wanting to get those three points for his team and I am sure whatever the result we will have a drink afterwards.

“He has been at Oldham for a year and he has done an exceptional in his first job. He came into the club in difficult circumstances after Paul left and stabilised the club to remain in the league and he has got them into a fighting position again now. For clubs like ourselves and Oldham that is not easy.

“Lee will now be looking to consolidate at this level and build on what he has achieved so far in his 12 months in charge. He is a good guy and I really like him, and I know he will be as determined as I am to get those three points.”
