Steve Davis says he is only targetting players who have a desire to improve here
Steve Davis is confident that Crewe Alexandra’s record of improving footballers will still be able to attract new players to the club this summer. The Alex boss is targeting three new outfield players to improve his team, as well as an experienced goalkeeper.
Davis is currently holding initial talks with players and agents in an attempt to ascertain potential interest. He has already gone on record to say that he won’t be rushed into making decisions on players, instead taking more time to attract the right players and characters to the club.
The Crewe manager appreciates that he won’t be able to compete with larger clubs in terms of wages, but says Crewe can offer a potential stepping stone for ambitious players.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We know we cannot compete with clubs offering bigger salaries but we are after those players who are more concerned with improving and developing.
“We want players with that hunger and ambition of becoming a better player. We have had players here who have come in, improved and got a better move because of it.
“Any player coming here will know what we are about. They know they will get individual coaching, the facilties are top class. They will get their opportunities to play and we are a League One club. “
