Davis praise for Johnson's knowledge of promising young players
Steve Davis says that the recent appointment of chief scout Chris Johnson will give us more of an advantage when it comes to assessing the potential of young players from the Under-21s league.
The Crewe Alexandra boss has recently gone on record to say that he has one or two potential youngsters’ lined-up to supplement his own young group and bridge a possible gap.
Johnson’s expertise stems from a strong knowledge of the Under-21 leagues and Davis will use the Staffordshire-based scout in his summer recruitment process.
Steve told crewealex.net: “Chris has been watching Under-21 football for many years now and he has a good knowledge of that level of football. He will be very much involved in our recruitment process and he has and will recommend players to me. It will be then up to me and Neil to follow that up.
“If we can find those players that are better than what we have got then we would look to do. They would have to be better because we have our own promising youngsters here, but it maybe that we might need one or two to bridge a possible gap. “
