Fresh Faces ‘Energise’ The Squad

26 June 2014

Collins confident new additions will make big impact

Crewe Alexandra Coach James Collins is looking forward to welcoming new signings to the first team set-up to help provide an ‘energising’ boost to the young squad.

The club haven’t been involved in any incoming transfer activity as of yet, but with Manager Steve Davis and his staff working furiously behind the scenes, Collins is confident the additions will come.

Having taken on seven first year pros from the academy, recruiting experienced heads to add to the dressing room could prove vital if the club are to have a successful 2014-15 campaign.

Collins told crewealex.net: “I think adding two or three to the squad each year , as long as they’re the right people, is good for the squad – it energies them.

“At this club the boys we bring in are really important because they’ve got to be the right players to help the young players, and hopefully we’ll get that right this year.

“We’ll also continue to benefit from the loan market. The big clubs have got big pools of players and we’ve got to pick the right ones and get them here, then hopefully that will hope both parties.”
