Ben Can Be Breakthrough Keeper

25 June 2014

James Collins believes Ben Garratt can become a great success

Crewe Alexandra youngster Ben Garratt is being tipped by Coach James Collins to become one of the club’s first ‘top’ goalkeepers to have emerged from the academy.

The Alex Academy is famous for bringing through a number of quality youngsters who have gone on to great things in the game in almost every position on the field – bar a top draw keeper.

Proving he’s up to the mark in League One last season, Garratt is now looking to cement his place as the Alex number one and lay down another fantastic season at the Alexandra Stadium.

James Collins told crewealex.net: “Ben had a super season under real pressure. He’s got a great temperament and he’s got another big year coming up.

“He’s played for his country at younger ages and he’s gone into our first team. Everyone we played towards the end of last season commented on him and thought he showed great character.

“He’s very young still and he’s not become a man yet physically, but he’s got a lot to come and he could prove to be an outstanding goalkeeper coming through the ranks from this club.”
