Boss delighted to be taking his Crewe squad back to Norton
Steve Davis will take all his fit and available players to Norton for tonight’s opening pre-season game. The Crewe Alexandra manager is eager to give all of his players’ valuable minutes on the pitch as they build-up towards the season kick-off on 9th August. The Crewe players are expected to play a half each at Norton this evening and at Nantwich on Sunday.
Crewe’s first year professionals are expected to be given a chance to show what they can do and new signing Scott Shearer will start his challenge for the number one spot.
The Football Club are always keen to support our local neighbours and give our own supporters the chance to travel locally to see their team in action.
Steve told crewealex.net: “The games have come around quickly but I am looking forward to it. We like to play our local neighbours because it helps them financially and it is not too far for our fans to travel.
“The people at Norton were great with us last season, they really looked after us and because of that we are pleased to go back. I know they are thankful for that and we are looking forward to seeing them again.
“Nantwich is the same. They are always really good with us. It is a really good club with nice people and we like going there. The pitch is usually really good and there is a decent crowd.
Steve added: “It will be tough having the two games in three days but we will take all those who are fit and available and have spare bodies if we need to take people off.”
