Selection Headache For Gaffer

Boss has changes to make for New York Stadium visit

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has a nice selection headache to make ahead of this weekend’s away encounter at Rotherham United. The Alex are expected to welcome back defender Adam Dugdale from his head injury and last season’s leading scorer Mathias Pogba is available again for selection after successfully returning to training this week.

Pogba was unfortunate that Cheshire Senior Cup tie against Northwich Victoria was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch as it would have provided him with some game time following his recovery from a serious knee injury. That is not to say the 22-year-old won’t be included in our travelling squad this weekend.

Davis also welcomes back midfielder George Evans from suspension after he missed our New Years’ Day clash with Carlisle after collating five bookings just before the cut-off point.

The boss also has a decision to make in forward positions after both Mesca and Tom Hitchcock returned to their respective clubs following successful loan spells.

Ollie Turton has returned to training but is unlikely to feature in Yorkshire this weekend. Crewe Alexandra’s long-term casualties are Max Clayton (ankle) and Ryan Colclough (stomach).
