Pogs Boost Ahead Of Weekend

Mathias Pogba could get some game time against Vis in Senior Cup

Crewe Alexandra could be handed a major boost ahead of this weekend’s trip to Rotherham United with the news that last season’s leading scorer Mathias Pogba is expected to play some part in tomorrow’s Cheshire Senior Cup tie against Northwich Victoria at Flixton.

Pogba has not featured for the club since sustaining a serious knee injury against Manchester United in pre-season. The Guinean International had to undergo surgery and months of rehab but now he is set to give Steve Davis a major boost in the second half of the season.

Steve Davis was going to name Pogba on the substitutes’ bench for our New Years’ Day fixture against Carlisle United, but chose not to at the eleventh hour in the club’s 2-1 win.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I was going to include Mathias in the squad but I felt it was unfair on him if we would have needed him after five minutes. I decided to give him more time but we have arranged the Cheshire Senior Cup game and he may play some part in that.”

The club’s cup-tie against Northwich Vics will be taking place on Tuesday 7thJanuary with a 7.45pm kick. Tickets are priced at £7 for adults, £5 for concessions and £2 for juniors.
