Steve Davis says he would like to add one or two to bolster squad

Steve Davis has not ruled out bringing in one or two on loan to bolster his squad. The Alex boss has spent the transfer window trimming his squad numbers down and has recently allowed Alan Martin, Gregor Robertson and Michael West to leave the club in search of new clubs. All three were entering the last few months of their contracts.

Lee Molyneux has also been allowed to re-join his former club Accrington Stanley on a one-month loan. The left winger made his 'second debut' for the club when coming on as a late substitute against Bristol Rovers last night.

In the wake of Martin departing the club on Monday, the Alex boss has targeted a new goalkeeper and has not ruled out a return for Fulham goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, who was set to return to Gresty Road before he suffered a recurrence of his thigh strain.

The Alex boss would also like to enhance his options in wide areas. With Ryan Colclough ruled out for at least another four weeks after he had undergone a double hernia injury, he would like extra cover for Brad Inman and Byron Moore. Only youngster Billy Waters provides that at the moment.

Steve recently told the club’s official web-site: “I'd like more competition on the wings, we haven't got quite enough. The only back-up we have with Ryan (Colclough) being out is young Billy Waters. I am weighing things up and if we can do something then we would.”
