Uche winning race against time to be fit for weekend

Crewe Alexandra re hopeful that on-loan striker Uche Ikpeazu will be fit and available for this weekend’s important encounter at Tranmere Rovers. The on-loan Watford striker missed our mid-week victory over MK Dons after suffering a sprained ankle against Leyton Orient the previous Saturday.

The 18-year-old certainly made an instant impression against the O’s with his power and presence and Steve Davis is confident that the towering Nigerian will add goals during his loan spell.

Ikpeazu failed a late fitness test ahead of our 2-0 win over the MK Dons but the medical staff believe he should be fine to make the trip to Prenton Park.

 Fellow striker Vadaine Oliver remains a doubt with a hip injury. Ryan Colclough (hernia) and Max Clayton (ankle) are the club’s long term absentees.
