Benefitting From Settled XI

Steve Davis pleased injuries have subsided for run-in

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he believes his team is benefitting from having a fairly settled starting line-up. The Alex boss had to content with his fair share of injuries in the first half of the season and following the recent return of Mathias Pogba from injury, he has given every member of his squad minutes on the pitch this season.

Although we are still without long-term absentees Ryan Colclough and Max Clayton, Davis has the majority of his squad to choose from for the weekend trip to Bradford City.

Steve told crewealex.net: “It can make a big difference if you do have a settled starting eleven. Leyton Orient have had that for much of the season and are up there challenging for promotion.

“It is beneficial if you can give the nucleus of a team together and have them playing well. We have had to change one or two for different reasons but we have been fairly settled for a while now and there are good partnerships developing in the team.

“We have become harder to beat and tighter at the back and that has made a big difference to our results in the second half of the season.

“I have been pleased in the way we have been creating and scoring more goals. The main reason for that is the form of Chuks (Aneke) but other players have chipped in. We could do with a few more goals from midfield and the wingers.”
