Youth team boss pleased with stylish win over last season's finalists Fulham

Youth team manager Alex Morris says the club’s young players ‘delivered in spades’ last night has they overcame Fulham 2-1 in the FA Youth Cup. Last season’s losing finalists were extremely gracious in defeat and knew that they had faced a Crewe Alexandra Youth Team in confident mood. Goals from George Cooper and Andre Brown sealed the Railwaymen’s place in tomorrow’s fourth round draw and the only disappointing aspect of the performance from Morris’ perspective was that we didn’t turn our dominance into more goals.

Morris certainly felt that the 2-1 scoreline did not do his side justice after they conjured up numerous decent chances over an entertaining 90 minutes at Gresty Road.

Following the third round win, Morris told Crewe Alex Player: “I thought the lads played really, particularly in the second half. They did everything we asked of them in that second half and delivered in spades.

“The only disappointment we have is that the scoreline didn’t reflect the difference between the two sides on the night. I thought we had been good enough to have scored one or two more and that is something we can learn from going forward.

“They were very god afterwards, they congratulated us on the way we played and said that the better side had won.

“To have won against a good side like Fulham at home and with a bit of style was the icing on the cake. Now we can look forward to the draw on Friday and hopefully we will get a bit of luck and get a favourable draw. “
