Steve Davis says Finnish striker pleased to be back at Crewe

The Finnish striker Lauri Dalla Valle did not hesitate to sign a permanent deal with Crewe Alexandra according to Steve Davis. The Crewe Alexandra boss says signing the former Fulham striker on an 18-month deal happened very quickly after the 23-year-old impressed on a short term trial.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It all happened fairly quickly in the end. You never know how those things can go, but Lauri was keen to come here and it all happened over a couple of days.

“I spoke to him after the Under-21 game and told him what we could offer him and he quickly decided to come in and sign the contract and I’m delighted.

“He is still only 23 and you tend to forget that because he has been around a long time. He has been at some big clubs, to Norway, to Italy and Belgium and now back to England. I just said to him do you want to keep on journeying around or would you prefer to settle down and improve as a player?

Steve added: “He is happy to be here. He enjoys it and knows what we can offer him. He did very well for us last time, and scoring five goals in 10 showed what he is capable of. We have now got him for a longer period and with have that time to work with him and help him.”
