Unified Thinking Is Vital

In an interview with the LMA, Steve lays out his blueprint for success

In the latest edition of the League Manager’s Association Magazine, Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has reiterated the importance of having unity and positively running through the Football Club.

The Alex boss has recently been in the media stressing the need for everyone to pull in the same direction and rise to the challenge when faced with some dips in form. Crewe’s indifferent start to the season has seen us win just one of our opening eight games, but Davis says working through adversity eventually makes us stronger.

He has also set about quashing any negativity in and around his squad and threatened to move out any players who are pulling in the same direction as we look to build on two years of incredible success.

In an exclusive interview with the LMA, Steve said: “You can’t be successful and you can’t produce good footballers unless you have unified thinking. You need the buy-in of everyone around you, at all levels, everyone must be on your side, understand what you’re trying to achieve and work towards the same objectives.

“Positivity is also very important to me. If you can harness enough positivity among your staff then it will rub off on the players.

“We couldn’t have achieved success that Crewe has seen over the last 18 months – promotion to League One, winning the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and the sale of players- without everyone pulling in the same direction.”
