Uwe Will Want To Finish Job

14 November 2013

Steve is backing Uwe Rosler to have the Bees in the chase for promotion

Steve Davis says that his opposite number this weekend, Uwe Rosler, is building a squad capable of finishing last season’s job off. Brentford lost to Yeovil Town in the play-off final at Wembley back in May but after strengthening his options in the summer, the Crewe boss still believes the Bees are amongst the favourites to be promoted.

Rosler has added the likes of Alan McCormack and Will Grigg to his options and with the likes of our former striker Clayton Donaldson still at Griffin Park they are well equipped to be challenging once again.

Ahead of the club’s trip to London, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Uwe has done a very good job there and they were very unlucky not to be promoted last season. They were a penalty miss away from doing it really, so you can’t go any closer than that.

“After narrowly missing out on automatic promotion, I thought they would win the play-offs, but they just fell short in the final. Uwe has managed to keep the majority of his squad together and has been able to spend some money and added to that. They are going to be quite a force again at this level.

“We know we will have to do a lot better than we did last season down there. That was a major reality check for us because we soon learnt about what this league is all about. It was a tough afternoon for us, but we know what to expect a bit better this time and will be better prepared for them.

“Uwe will be expecting his team to be up there again, challenging for promotion and it is always a tough place to go, so we will have to play at a high standard to get anything from it.”
