Boss on decision to let Molyneux go out on loan

Steve Davis says it was important for the club’s winger Lee Molyneux to go out on loan to Rochdale to gain first-team football. The summer acquisition from Accrington Stanley has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Crewe starting XI and has moved to Spotland until early January.

Molyneux has made just four starts for the Railwaymen following his move to South Cheshire an hasn’t featured since a late substitute appearance away at Wycombe in the FA Cup.

The Alex boss says he will monitor Molyneux’s progress at Spotland before deciding on his immediate future. He hasn’t ruled out extending his loan spell.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We'll see how it goes with Lee. We're not looking too far ahead.

“He just needs to play. It will depend on how he does at Rochdale. “
