Ben Garratt on why he is ready if the manager relies on him

Young goalkeeper Ben Garratt knows he has to remain patient before he is to be handed his second senior appearance to go with his debut when starting the final game of the season against Walsall.

Garratt kept a morale boosting clean-sheet against the Saddlers as Crewe showcased a home grown team in a 2-0 win.

Garratt has told Crewe Alex player that if he was to get a chance then he would be ready to stake his claim in League One?

Ben told Crewe Alex Player: “I think I am ready if the manager called on me. All I can do in the meantime is work as hard as I can and if and when I get my chance, I’ve got to take it.

“I have confidence in my ability to perform well and play in League One. I think I’m improving all the time and I’ve done a lot of work with Steve (Phillips) and working with him and Alan (Martin) every day brings me on.

“We know it is a big week for us. We have an FA Cup tie that we need to win and try and get through to play Preston and then the derby game against Port Vale. We know how important that game is to the supporters and we will up for both. “
