Evans Set For Debut

George Evans is set to mark his senior debut for Crewe

The club’s latest acquisition George Evans is set to make his senior debut for Crewe tomorrow. Evans is set to get the nod in midfield with Steve Davis keeping his line-up close to his chest.

With the likes of Harry Davis, AJ Leitch-Smith and Mark Ellis all performing well for the Under-21s on Wednesday night and substitutes Max Clayton and Chuks Aneke doing well at Sheffield United last weekend, there is certainly competition for places in the Crewe Alexandra starting XI.

Steve has revealed though that the Manchester City youngster will start after signing on loan for three months: “George has been fine in training and has settled in well. He is a nice lad and he gets on with the rest of the lads. Knowing a few of them from England and through playing against them at Academy level has helped him settle.

“He did have a bit of an ankle injury before he came here, but that is fine now and he is looking good in the sessions.

“He is a mature and ambitious lad, who came here to play and that is what he will do on Saturday. He has been bubbly all week and is looking forward to making his debut.

“We will see what he can do for us in the middle of the park tomorrow. We will look to make one or two changes and come up with a team that we think will cause Bradford some problems.”
