Steve Davis says players have to hit the ground running

Steve Davis, the Crewe Alexandra manager is expecting a more competitive League One next season after evaluating the clubs coming down from the Championship and those being promoted from League Two.

The Alex boss says his side will have hit the ground running but stresses that the experience of last season will only got to serve his players well for a tough campaign. Crewe are set to the likes of Bristol City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and newly promoted neighbours Port Vale next season.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We'll be better prepared mentally than last season because we know how tough the league is going to be; especially with the sides that have been relegated from the Championship and promoted from League Two.

“I think it will be even harder. They will all be looking to improve and we will be no different, we'll be looking to do better. Hopefully the players will have a determination to look forward and not look back on what they have done. That's the mind-set I want them to have.”
