Keen Admirer Of Dons Style

Steve Davis on Karl Robinson's attractive MK Dons side

Steve Davis says that tonight’s visitors MK Dons play like an npower Championship side, but they may find it challenging to play their preferred style on the Crewe Alexandra pitch at the moment. The Alex pitch has certainly suffered under the shadow of the main stand and it has made things difficult to pass the ball as freely as normal in certain areas of the pitch.

Steve is still looking forward to a game against Karl Robinson’s attractive side this evening: “It should be a really good game and an exciting one. They play some really attractive football.  They play more like a Championship side and we try to as well. It should be an intriguing game.

“They like to get the ball down and play. They will be a lot different from Shrewsbury, who had two big lads up front and got a lot of crosses into the box. MK Dons are a lot more patient and try an get in with clever movement. They like to pass it and play through the middle a lot more than other teams at this level.

“Saying that, they might find playing on our pitch at the moment, a bit more challenging. They may have to adjust slightly, although all their players are technically good and comfortable in possession.

“MK Dons are a very good side and have narrowly missed out of promotion a few times. They will still think they have an outside chance of making the play-offs and we are not that far behind, so that makes us outsiders as well with a few fixtures to get through.”
