Young defender needs hernia operation
Jon Guthrie has been ruled out for the rest of the season after a scan revealed that the young defender will need to undergo a hernia operation. Guthrie has made two appearances for Crewe this season, including starting the game at Bournemouth back January. He has been troubled by a groin injury and the extent now means he will go under the knife next week.
Steve Davis, the Crewe Alexandra manager said: “Jon needs an operation for a hernia. He will undergo that next week and that will see him out for the season.
“Of course, we have to make a decision on Jon as he out of contract in the summer. We will have to make a decision on me on what we know and the potential he has. He will be one to think about, as it is a bit different.
He added: “The others out of contract here have a chance to impress and earn themselves a new deal.”
