Boss says he will have to make a decision over Nathan Ellington soon

Steve Davis says a decision will be made over the on trial Nathan Ellington sooner rather than later. Ellington was on target again for the club’s Under-21’s in a 1-1 draw with Birmingham City yesterday, to take his total in those matches to four goals in four games.

Steve has always been an admirer of the former Wigan and Watford striker and the only doubts he has over the 31-year-old hit-man is over his fitness levels having joining us on trial at the tail end of the season.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Nathan is enjoying himself. He came here to get himself fit by playing games and restore some confidence and belief by scoring goals. He has done well and scored four goals in four games at Under-21 level.

“He has been around long enough to know that playing in League One is a step up. He has the experience and knows that he will have to cope with the intensity that brings. He knows what would be expected because he is has been a proven professional at the top level.

“I have spoken to his agent and I know the time is coming around when we will have to make a decision on him. Hopefully that could come this week.”
