Matt Tootle sasy summer fitness sessions only help in injury prevention

Matt Tootle has told the club’s official web-site that he is now used to having come in during the summer for fitness sessions and says that the work is all part of the injury prevention over the next 10 months. Tootle is now a regular of the Crewe Alexandra summer sessions and says the banter in the dressing room is soon flying about.

Matt told “I am used to it now. Some of the newer lads aren’t but it is only two sessions a week and it just helps you top up your fitness levels and I think it is the best way to do it now.

“I have been coming in for four of five years now and it is the best thing for you, because you don’t want to be coming back at the end of June, start of July playing catch-up with your fitness. The days of running up hills, sprinting and being sick are long gone now.

“It is not as if we are getting killed. We have to do half the sessions that the club put on and it is just good to keep working and the banter is always good when people have been away and come back.

“It is better than being sat at home for a couple of months, doing very little. We still get plenty of time off to recharge and everyone will be determined to come back fit and ready to go.
