Alex boss on keeper's charity work

Crewe boss Steve Davis has praised Steve Phillips for his continued charity work. Phillips departed for London today ahead of his London-Paris four day cycle challenge and Davis appreciates the hard-work that Phillips has put in.

Phillips looks set to raise over £20,000 for Cauldwell Children and Leukaemia Research, and Davis is encouraging more Alex players to get involved with charity work.

“I think it is brilliant what Steve is doing,” explained Davis. “He has a done a great job over the last 12 months with the help of the Crewe ASI. It is a phenomenal achievement what they have all done and what they are on target to raise.

“The total must be really adding up now and to get around the £20,000 mark is brilliant. Steve has worked very hard and it is a great achievement to give something back to any charity.

“I am a patron of the ‘CRY’ charity and I think Steve has set an example to the other lads at the club to get involved with charity and give something back.  There are too many players in the game who take, take, and take. Steve is always giving something back as well.”
