Any Decision Will Go To Board Level

17 June 2013

Bakes says Max's future will decide on a number of factors after extension talks stalled

Neil Baker, who has recently returned from holiday in Mexico, says he has been kept up to date with club affairs and has spoken frequently with Steve Davis.

Baker has been kept in the loop in regards to the future of young forward Max Clayton and although the assistant manager is eager for the England Under-19 starlet to extend his stay at Crewe, he admits that any decision on his future will now have to be discussed at boardroom level.

Baker is adamant that the Academy graduate will not be leaving on the cheap, either this summer or if the case goes to tribunal next summer.

Neil told crewealex.net: “I spoke to Steve when I was away about everything I needed to know and we spoke about Max’s future. Steve told me that he had met with Max’s representative and that he wasn’t keen to sign.

“That is something we will discuss again when we all return for pre-season. It will be a decision that Steve and the board will have to decide on.

“In regards to all our players going out of contract and not signing an extension, we have to decide whether to sell them early or go for compensation. “
