Manager looks to improve agent relationships

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that improving relationships with agents has helped us land transfer targets this summer. The Alex boss admits that it is always a challenge and experience signing any player but understanding from where agents are coming from has helped in discussions.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Signing players or selling them is never straight forward but some go more smoothly than others. The most challenging has been signing Mathias Pogba. That was a difficult one because it took all day to come to a conclusion. We were delighted to get his signature on the contract.

“Contracts and talks go back and forth between the clubs, the player and the agents involved and it can take some time. Of course, there has to be things that have to be kept confidential but I’ve tried to build relationships with agents and understand them.

“I think that helps to understand where they are coming from and perhaps try to work out what they are thinking. It is just part of the game and something you have to deal with.”
