Young Garratt to deputise for injured Martin

Crewe Alexandra will travel to Bournemouth today without their reserve goalkeeper Alan Martin. The Scotland Under-21 International is still struggling to shake off the foot injury he acquired during our Johnstone’s Paint Trophy victory over Bradford City. He was replaced by Steve Phillips, who will start at Dean Court.

Young Ben Garratt will deputise for Phillips against the in-form Cherries after signing a two-year contract extension earlier in the week.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Alan is still struggling with his foot so he won’t travel with us. We will take Ben with us and he will be on the bench. He has been doing well and earned his new contract so he is on a high at the moment.

“If he is needed to come on then I would be more than happy to give him an opportunity. “
