Steve Davis praise for on-loan striker after he returns to Fulham

Steve Davis was full of praise for Lauri Dalle Valle after he let the Finnish striker return to his parent club Fulham after a successful loan spell. Dalla Valle netted five goals in 10 appearances, which included crucial goals against Doncaster, Crawley, Carlisle and Colchester United. Every time LDV scored, Crewe Alexandra won the game.

Davis has said that the door is not closed on a return later in the month, but he is looking for his own strikers Max Clayton and AJ Leitch-Smith to come back into the side and rediscover their goalscoring form.

The Crewe Alexandra boss told the club’s official web-site that Dalla Valle’s attitude and work ethic was first class.

Steve told crewealex.net: “I bought Lauri into the club to score goals and he did that. He scored one in every two games. It wasn’t just his goals that we were impressed by, it was his work ethic.

“He has a big heart and was a great team player. He is a great lad and was good around the place. He wants to learn and improve and would always be out there putting extra work in.

“His attitude was first class. He would take a bag of balls out after training and is always out there working on something.

He added: “I think he has a meeting with his agent this week in regards to his future at Fulham because he is out of contract in the summer. It is a difficult time for any player but I hope it works out for him there because he is a good young player.”
