"We Are Not A Good Team Yet"

12 February 2013

Boss wants his players to control full 90 minutes to consider ourselves a good team

Steve Davis has told crewealex.net that his team are still to develop into a ‘consistently good side.’ The Alex boss is still looking for his young Crewe side to master a consistent level over 90 minutes. He was disappointed with his side’s second half performance at Notts. County at the weekend, after we had dominated much of the first 45 minutes. Luke Murphy gave us the lead via the penalty spot on the brink of the break, but it could have been even more comfortable if we had been clinical in front of goal.

Davis told the club’s official web-site: “I don’t think we can say we are a good team until we can master the 90 minutes. We have the potential to be, but we are not quite there yet. We are still learning and that is good because it means we are improving.

“I don’t know whether it is our concentration levels and our inability to keep producing it. I cannot put my finger on it and I don’t know whether it is the opposition. Notts. County changed on Saturday and we didn’t adapt enough. We knew what they were going to do and spoke about it at half-time, but we couldn’t stop it.

“We have let a 1-0 lead slip a few times and it is something we have to learn from going forward.”
