Davis On His New Deal

4 February 2013

Defender Harry Davis on his new contract

Harry Davis says signing his new deal has rounded off an almost perfect 12 months for the Academy graduate. Davis forced his way into the first-team picture last season and played a key role in helping Crewe Alexandra to promotion to npower League One via the excitement of the play-offs.

Davis, 21, has now converted into his more familiar central position and continues to battle it out with Mark Ellis and Adam Dugdale for a starting place.

Harry has signed until the summer of 2015 and on doing so told crewealex player: “I am delighted to have signed the new deal. I have been here since I was a kid and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. It has been a very good 12 months for the club and I want to keep pushing on and improve.

“We have picked up some good results and have shown that we can compete at this level. All we can do is take it each game at a time and see where that takes us. It was a big step up going into League One but I think everyone has handled it well.

“The manager told us that we played consistently well and proved we could play at this level that he would look at rewarding us with new contracts, so I am just pleased that my performances has seen me be offered a new contract.

He added: “We are still a relatively young squad and I want to be a part of us developing into a consistent team. Things are looking healthy for us this season and we just have to keep going.”
