Winger could miss out this weekend with abdominal injury
Ryan Colclough may miss this weekend’s trip to Northampton’s Sixfields Stadium to face Coventry after suffering a slight set-back in the club’s Under-21 game against Nottingham Forest on Monday.
Colclough had to be withdrawn during the 2-1 win after complaining of a pain in his abdominal muscles. The injury is not a re-occurrence of his groin strain and as a precaution the young winger was sent for a scan.
Colclough may not be risked for the clash with the Sky Blues this weekend and won’t be until the club receive the all-clear.
Steve Davis, the Crewe manager told the club’s official web-site: “Ryan started the game for the Under-21s earlier in the week but had to come off.
“He was complaining of some discomfort in his stomach area, so we have had to step back a bit with him. We have sent for a scan as a precaution and we will assess the results with Rob (Sharp) once we get them back.
“It doesn’t seem to relate to his groin injury and hopefully it is just a bit of a strain and nothing too serious. He has had some trouble with that area and has been through something of a growth spurt so we will just give it time to settle down.”
